About Me
I am the proud mother of a middle-school
son, a toddler boy, and two wonderful
"bonus children" who join us during
school breaks. I left the West Coast and
moved to Omaha thirteen years ago and
now I can say that in my heart this is
home. Late in the evening you can catch
me surfing the web to find new and
interesting ideas to bring to our
children. Sometimes I will sell a knick
or a knack on e-bay to raise funds for
our next big toy or outing.
I have had a few different
occupations over the years,
most relating to children,
and this by far is my
favorite. I enjoy helping
children explore their world
and watching as they learn
to achieve their personal
best. The uncontrollable
laughter when they catch a
fit of the giggles, or the
beaming ear-to-ear grin when
they are bursting with pride
at a new skill; nothing
beats it!
Philosophy
I believe that when
children are offered
opportunities that it is
in their nature to grab
them! I know that it is
important for me as a
parent, and as a
childcare provider, to
offer children
opportunities to play,
laugh, discover and
learn.
Experience
I have provided Title XX childcare in my
home since 2001. Prior to that, I worked
with children of homeless parents and
developed a tutorial program for them to
remain at pace in school.
I am a State licensed Child Care Home I.
Being licensed means that I am also
certified infant-pediatric CPR/First Aid. I
complete, and consistently exceed, the
required hours of training each year. I
receive regular nutritional training through
the USDA food program. And I have received
Type 1 diabetes training through Children's
Hospital and am able to provide
comprehensive care for diabetic children in
conjunction with their parents and
physicians.
Early Learning Program
During the summer months, I
offer a loosely structured
version of Reach For The
Stars, a multi-age
curriculum. We go on many
outings to parks, the zoo,
the children’s Museum,
splash pads, etc. We also
use our curriculum as a
guide to explore movement,
language, science and art
through observation,
discovery, questioning,
listening and creativity.
September – May our 2-5yr olds
participate in Fireflies™ which is a
professionally designed monthly
preschool curriculum which offers
creative arts, alphabet and language
activities, music and movement, hands-on
math and science, social activities and
games. We also go on regular outings
so that we may become familiar with our
community and just plain have FUN!
9mo.-24mo. olds enjoy exploring with the
Buttercups
program which offers activities and
materials to promote and enhance
physical, mental, and social growth in
four areas - Language Development,
Physical Development, Creative
Exploration, and Cognitive Development.
6wks-9mo.olds: I only accept one infant
at a time so that they can receive all
of the nurturing and attention that they
deserve.
All children have their fun enhanced by
use of the Reach2Learn early literacy
enhancements, lots of music and plenty
of good old-fashioned PLAY!
Every other month I offer a
Parent-Night-Out Overnighter.
Policies
All children must have a
current immunization record.
All additional policies will
be offered at time of
interview.
Additional Information
I am a member of many organizations so
that I may offer their benefits to our
children. These include The Omaha
Children's Museum, The Henry Doorly Zoo,
YMCA, Midwest Childcare Assoc., and of
course ChildCare Share.
I look forward to meeting
with you and seeing if our family is the
match that your family has been looking
for.
