About Me
My name is Angie; I am mother to a very
light-hearted little girl. She will turn one in
Aug. of 2007. I was born and raised in North
Dakota; I moved to Omaha in 2001. I have been
working with children for more than ten years,
in settings from childcare homes to centers, and
church school to swimming lessons. I am
inspired by the curiosity and imagination of
young people. We bought our home in the Cherry
Hills neighborhood in 2006 for the specific
purpose of using the walkout basement for
childcare. I am state licensed and insured to
care for a maximum of ten children.
My
Philosophy
My purpose and philosophy is:
-
To
use active play as a basis for creating meaningful
learning experiences and positive relationships
-
To
provide predictable, consistent, safe, and nurturing
environments
-
To
assist with healthy growth and development in many
domains, and encourage a lifelong love of learning.
Early
Learning Program
I have chosen to use the “Nebraska Early Learning
Guidelines” as the framework for my childcare setting.
Daily schedules are planned and consistent. Music, creative
arts, science, math, language, physical activity, and
relaxation will be incorporated into as many days as
possible. Each activity is carefully thought out, in effort
to meet individual needs and abilities. Children will be
engaged in creative play, reasoning, and communication
daily. My program is based on numerous themes that will be
explored throughout the year.
Children will learn how to express and manage feelings,
share, take turns, and embrace differences. Daily
activities and materials will help children get excited
about exploration and discovery. I will empower children by
providing choices. Safe, child size furnishings and
supplies will help children to be independent. I also
incorporate American Sign Language into daily play. Sign
Language helps young children (infants) communicate their
needs as soon as possible, and enhances literary skills in
older children.
